Chris Tomlin Headlines Christian Music Day at Carowinds
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (June 15, 2009) – On Sept. 19, the Paladium Amphitheatre will be transformed as inspirational Christian musicians come to Carowinds. Christian Music Day 2009 is a powerful event featuring Chris Tomlin, Skillet, BarlowGirl, national speaker David Nasser, and comedian Mike Williams.
Chris Tomlin is a Dove Award winning Christian worship leader and songwriter from Texas. Some of his most well-known songs are "How Great Is Our God," "Indescribable," "Forever," "Famous One," "We Fall Down," "Holy Is the Lord," "Made to Worship," and "Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone)." According to the Christian Copyright Licensing International, Tomlin is the most sung Christian artist in the United States. He was awarded Male Vocalist at the 2006, 2007, and 2008 Gospel Music Awards, and was named Artist of the Year in 2007 and 2008, and is a two-time Grammy Award nominee. Chris Tomlin released his fifth studio album Hello Love on September 2, 2008.
Skillet, a Christian Rock band from Tennessee has released seven studio albums and received two Grammy nominations. Over the past 12 years the band has spanned many genres, including Alternative, Industrial Rock and Hard Rock. “Comatose,” the newest album released from the band, further exemplifies the melting of musical styles that Skillet is known and named for.
BarlowGirl is a Christian rock band from Illinois. The band is composed of sisters Alyssa Barlow (lead vocals, bass, keyboard), Becca Barlow (backing vocals, guitar), and Lauren Barlow (lead vocals, drums). Their song "Never Alone" was the longest running #1 song in 2004 on Radio and Records Christian Hit Radio (CHR) and Christian Rock charts, and was the "Song of the Year" on both charts. BarlowGirl became the best selling new Christian artist of 2004. BarlowGirl's next album, Love & War, is slated for release on September 22, 2009.
