Our Hiring Process
Our hiring process begins with the application. We accept applications on-line at jobs4fun.com and in person at our Employment Office.
Once you have completed an application, please stop by our Employment Office to complete a Pre-Screening Interview. Our Employment Office hours may vary. Please call 704-587-9006 for up-to-date hours of operation and available position information. Candidates who are successful with the Pre-Screen will advance to a department interview.
Please call (704) 587-9006 or (803) 548-5300, for any questions regarding our employment process.
For most positions, you will receive an employment decision the day of the interview. If you are interviewing for a specialized position, however, an employment determination will not be made until all eligible applicants have been interviewed. Your interviewer will let you know when you can expect an employment decision.
If you are offered a position, you will need to provide certain documentation to verify identity and work eligibility before you can attend training or begin work.
Many applicants find that it is a good idea to bring these documents to the interview, so that you can begin the paperwork process immediately if you are offered a position. If you are under the age of 18, you may also want to bring a parent or guardian, because there are some additional forms that they will need to fill out as well. (Please note that parents will not be part of the interview process, however.)
Tips on Applying and Interviewing
Your interview is an opportunity for you to shine! It is also an excellent opportunity for you to get to know our organization and the department you’re interviewing for better. These tips will help you make the most of this opportunity:
- Be honest. Remember, the application is a legal document and INTEGRITY is the binding principle of our four cornerstones.
- Plan to be here 10-15 minutes before a scheduled interview.
- Dress for success. A nice polo shirt, khaki pants with a belt and business casual shoes are much more professional than athletic attire. Your pants should be worn at the natural waist line and you should not wear a hat.
- Be neat, clean and well groomed. Show that you are serious about working for Carowinds by exhibiting a professional appearance.
- Do not chew gum. Chewing gum during the interview is not professional and it can make it difficult for the interviewer to understand you.
- Smile and make eye contact with your interviewer(s).
- Shake the interviewer’s hand confidently at the beginning and end of the interview.
- Sit up straight while waiting for the interview and during the interview. Good posture conveys confidence and respect.
- Be polite, honest and sincere. You’ve heard it before, but INTEGRITY is the binding principle of our four cornerstones.
- Show interest in the job and our organization by asking questions.
- You will be asked a series of situational questions during your interview. Try to remember to use the STAR technique to completely answer the questions.
- What was the Situation?
- What was the Task you were trying to complete?
- What Action did you take or do?
- What was the end Result or outcome?
